Supporting Growth and Resilience

Portia Bilson plays a key role in ECP’s most relational mentoring work, focusing on emotional literacy, resilience, and identity. Her compassionate and reflective approach has supported children across six schools through both one-to-one and group mentoring sessions. Portia has led innovative initiatives like The Walking Project, which empowered Year 6 girls by combining physical activity with personal reflection, and co-led Starfish, a bespoke wellbeing group designed for quieter or often-overlooked pupils.

Portia’s work stands out for its deep impact—especially during key transitions such as moving from primary to secondary school, where she maintained continuity for six high-need students. She is also known for her strong partnerships with parents, building consistency between home and school. Her sessions are frequently described by staff as transformative, particularly for vulnerable or withdrawn children who flourish under her guidance.
