Gangs: Making the Right Choices 2020

Our decisions will affect our future. This combination of dramatic performance and reflective workshops has been designed to show our young people just that.

This initiative has been set up to help our children avoid negative pathways in their future. Edmonton has issues with gang-related crime and the better we understand the risks and potential consequences, the more likely we are to make the right decisions.

We’re taking our schools to a performance of Crime of the Century, a play that deals with the issues of County Lines and knife crime, devised and performed by Chickenshed Theatre.

A little about the show:

Just over ten years ago Crime of the Century was conceived in response to the worrying rise in knife crime. Chickenshed Theatre have created a piece of theatre to shed light on the issues surrounding gang violence and get to the root of the problem. Using words and movement alongside a contemporary score of hip-hop and dance music, this performance packs a thought-provoking punch and acts as a positive tool against the savagery of knife crime.

We want to equip our children with everything they need to make choices with positive outcomes. After attending this powerful performance, everyone will participate in a reflective workshop to discuss its themes and gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding knife crime.
