Speech Bubbles

A national programme that supports child development through the power of drama and storytelling.

Speech Bubbles is a national programme that uses drama/storytelling to support the social and emotional development as well as the language and communication skills of children in KS1. Run in small clusters of schools, children take part in a series of creative activities which encourage listening, speaking, turn-taking, peer support and reflective skills and culminate in ‘acting out’ a story each week. National findings for the project have shown that 83% of children have improved learning, speaking and listening skills and 88% showed behavioural improvements.
